Nigerian Representative Tahir Monguno announced that President Goodluck Jonathan will be served an impeachment notice when the House of Representatives reconvenes Wednesday, December 3. Senators and other members of the house of representatives have begun to collective signatures for the president's removal after the November 20 police siege on the National Assembly.

Monguno said, "We need only one third of the members of the House to serve the president impeachment notice and so far we have got far more than that so as we resume the motion will be formally tabled for the president to be notified. It is only the removal that requires two third. When we reconvene on December 3rd the president will be served impeachment notice," he explained.

Approximately two hundred members and sixty senators have expressed their support to remove the president.

Representatives also cite concerns over Jonathan's ability to govern effectively mentioning Boko Haram attacks and other security issues facing Nigerians. 

Speaker of the House Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and other lawmakers were teargased by police November 20. House members began to collect signatures the very same day for impeachment. Senators followed two days later.
