Nothing Will Happen To Me – Sanusi

In what appears to be a reply to the Boko Haram leader, Shekau, the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness, Muhammad Sanusi II, said that he remained protected against any evil attack and nothing was going to happen to him except the will of Allah, the creator.
“I am protected and nothing is going to happen to me”, the Emir stated.

This was disclosed during a Friday special prayer session held at the Kano City Central Mosque (Masallachin Sarki) yesterday. Sanusi who presided over the special prayer reiterated his earlier call on the general public to protect themselves against the attacks of the Boko Haram sect.

On Shekau’s position on attacking religious groups, Muhammad Sanusi II urged all Muslim faithful and the followers of Tijjaniyya, Qadiriyya and Izala religious movement to be vigilant and continue to guard themselves and rise against insurgent attacks.

He called on the people to be vigilant and protect their mosques, churches, markets and hospitals against any attack.

According to the emir, it is rather unacceptable for people to abandon their daily deals or desert places of worship because of the fear created by evil doers. He urged all not to succumb to fear and be their brothers’ keepers.

The emir urged people to report to security operatives any suspicious action and be courageous enough to apprehend anybody with suspicious character or moves.

In his Friday sermon, an Imam of Ashabul-Kahfi Jumaat Mosque at Gwale area and leader of Qadiriyya sect, Ustaz Aliyu Khawwasu, Sheikh Malam Nasiru Kabara said that Shekau’s reckless comment describing members of Qadiriyya sect as unbelievers was nothing but re-emergence of ‘Maitatsine’, a sect crushed by Nigerian soldiers in the ’70s.

Ustaz Kasiyuni reechoed emir Sanusi’s call for people especially the youth to protect themselves and their immediate environment from attacks of Boko Haram.

While our findings at various Izala and Tijjaniyya sect jumaat mosques, the call was similar to that of followers to be vigilant and guard self against evils of insurgents.

However, following Shekau’s verbal attack on the Kano emir, His Royal Highness, Muhammad Sanusi II, have asked people in the social media, in places of worship and on individual levels to continue to pray for the emir’s protection against the evils of insurgents.

Our check on the social media including Facebook, a social media considerably patronised by the literate Kano community, has since the release of Shekau’s new video in which he insulted the emir, been posting series of prayers and words of encouragement through history and Islamic traditions.

We gathered that the prayers posted by individuals on facebook expressed commitment to form a civilian vanguard behind the courageous emir and sought Allah’s protection over the emir.
