Court orders APC, aspirants to appear Jan 16 over Lagos gov slot
Mr Akinwunmi Ambode had won the primaries, defeating 11 other aspirants that contested the seat with him, but the aggrieved members, including Mr Femi Oluwatosin, had, in the suit number FHC/L/1857/14, sought the order of the court to invalidate the primaries held on December 4, on account that the party did not comply substantially with laid down rules.
According to them, the defendants, including the APC, among others, did not comply with the provisions of Article 20 of the constitution of the party and the regulations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the conduct of the primaries.
Giving his ruling on Friday, Justice A. Yunusa ordered that other defendants who were not in court be served and that the suit would be given accelerated hearing.
The case was, therefore, adjourned till January 16.
Two governorship aspirants, Mr Tokounbo Wahab and Dr Leke Pitan, were represented by their lawyers, Mr Kola Dare and Mr Olawale Salu, respectively, at the hearing.
