Okorocha seeks to redefine separation of powers

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has called for redefinition of powers among the three arms of government with the spirit of oneness in discharge of their duties.

Governor Okorocha made the call, Monday, while swearing in the new Chief Judge (CJ) of state, Hon. Justice Paschal Nnadi, at the Government House, Owerri. Justice Nnadi is the 10th Chief Judge of the state.

The governor further urged the Judiciary to canvass for a National Conference of the three arms in order to discuss some of the challenges that may arise from 2015 elections and work out modalities that would save the nation from acting unconstitutionally.

While congratulating the new Chief Judge for his appointment, Governor Okorocha advised him on the need to maintain relationship with his God even as he urged him to always discharge his duties without fear or favour.

Governor Okorocha appealed to politicians in the country at large to shun violence and thuggery while campaigning for leadership positions as he warned that ‘no leader is worth anybody’s life.’

Responding, Justice Nnadi described his appointment as divine, and thanked the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for maintaining their selection strictly on character, administrative skills and respect for constituted authorities while promising to discharge his duties as expected.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Okorocha for good governance as he solicited support from other stakeholders especially the bench, not taking his position for granted, but called for cooperation and prayers of all in order to excel in discharging his duties.
