Cannibal mum in China hospital tries to eat her newborn baby

A 24-year-old woman in a hospital in China was caught biting her 3-day-old son's arm, inflicting severe injuries to the child.

The woman, Li Zhenghua, was previously kicked out by her mother-in-law for her strange behaviour, even though she was heavily pregnant.

 

She then lived on the streets in Shenzhen, when she was brought into a local hospital to give birth. Li was then placed in a ward while attempts to contact her family were being made.

It was three days later when nurse Liu Tianlun found her chomping on the baby's arm.

Said a hospital spokesman: "It was really shocking, the arm was badly damaged and suffered not only heavy bruising but bleeding as a result of the bite."

Authorities are currently investigating the motives behind her actions as well as the custody of her baby.
