10 Injured in Gas Explosion

About 10 persons were injured and goods worth millions of naira were burnt when a gas tank exploded on Saturday night at Arakale Area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The explosion caused fire, which burnt several shops and houses just as  a white Toyota Sienna vehicle parked in front of a shop at the scene was also burnt while its owner watched helplessly.

The incidence sent panic to residents as many that were running helter-skelter for safety were badly injured.

THISDAY gathered that the gas tank was placed in an unauthorized location in the area.

Residents and traders disclosed that all effort to get government attention to ensure that the owner of the gas removed it from the area proved abortive.
