Boko Haram: Adamawa ToRecruit Hunters, CivilianJTF

In its effort to confront the raging insurgency rocking the state, Adamawa State government is set to enlist the services of local hunters,

vigilantes and civilian JTF in liberating towns captured by the Boko Haram insurgents in the northern parts of the state.

Governor Bala James Ngilari who dropped the hint shortly after an emergency security meeting yesterday said that at least 10,000 persons will be enlisted in the scheme. The governor who spoke through his director of Press and Publicity, Mr P.P. 

Elisha said that the main purpose of the civil security organisation is to assist law enforcement agencies in their job of providing security to the society. “That is why they sometimes join the military at the check points,” he said.

According to him, “This does not give them a license to take laws into their hands by harassing or arresting innocent members of the society.’’ 

He stressed that the JTF will be there to compliment the effort of the law enforcement agencies that had the power  to arrest or detain suspected criminals.
