Lamido Advocates Continuous Support For NYSC

The Jigawa State Governor, Dr. Sule Lamido has called for the continuous support of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), saying that the scheme provides the platform for the youths to know the country better.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the NYSC after its Director General, Brig. Gen. Johnson Olawumi, paid a courtesy visit to the governor at the state’s Government House in Dutse, Governor Lamido said there is the need for Nigerians to know themselves.

Lamido said, “The need for Nigerians to know themselves and their country is still there, especially now when there is so much ignorance and hatred. NYSC provides this platform for our country to know itself and this is why the scheme should be supported by all Nigerians. If there is one idea all Nigerians should be proud of, it is the NYSC.”

Lamido said there was no amount of resources too much to commit to the well-being of the scheme and the welfare of the youth corps, who he described as the future of the nation.

The NYSC DG lauded the governor for putting in place what he described as a state-of-the-art NYSC orientation camp and the best of its kind in the country.
