Lagos Traders Seek Support For Jonathan

A group under the aegis of Lagos Market Unions, a coalition of all traders in Lagos State, has declared their support for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general elections.
The group made this known yesterday in Abuja, when they paid a solidarity visit to the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) headquarters in Abuja.
The leader of the group, Prince Eke Obi said they are in Abuja to show support and solidarity for the president’s re-election. He said that their support for the president’s re-election was hinged on his sterling performance in his first term despite the difficult challenges he inherited.
According to him, Jonathan deserves another term of four years to enable him complete what he has started. “Jonathan must run because he has performed creditably well and therefore merit a second term in office in order to complete the good work he has started. Every other performing sitting governors and legislators across political parties wish to have a second term as we speak. So why can’t a performing sitting president take another shot at the presidency? That is why we are here today.” He also said that electing President Jonathan for another four years will calm frayed nerves and engender peace in the country.
Addressing the group, Chief Ifeanyi Uba, a governorship candidate in the Anambra State election under the Labour Party and now a chieftain of TAN, thanked the group for their support for President Jonathan. He reminded them that TAN is not a political party but a platform created in support of good governance. Chief Uba said TAN decided to support President Jonathan for re-election because they have seen his performance and believe that if given another chance he will do better than any of those jostling to be president at the moment.
According to him, TAN will outlive President Jonathan as far as supporting good governance in Nigeria is concern. He disclosed that TAN is planning a worldwide diaspora campaign that will cover over 160 countries across the globe for President Goodluck Jonathan in a couple of weeks from now.
