‘We Don’t Know PDP Candidates In Borno’

Aspirants for various political offices under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State yesterday accused the party leadership of alleged imposition of candidates during the primary elections.
The aggrieved aspirants said that apart from the governorship candidate, the leadership of the party had kept them in the dark on the list of the party’s candidates that would contest elections next month.

LEADERSHIP Friday reports that Borno PDP, just like it’s Yobe counterpart, could not hold party primaries due to the insecurity situation that prevented national officers from coming to the states to officiate the primaries.

Borno and Yobe PDP held their primaries in Abuja, where most of the positions were allocated through consensus.

Usman Danjuma Medugu, one of the House of Representatives aspirants who attended the Abuja primaries from Borno State, lamented that he was not pleased with the way he was denied a ticket via consensus, adding that the PDP leadership in the state had also failed to make public the list of candidates for various posts including the one for his constituency, Maiduguri Metropolitan Federal Constituency.
