Neither Jonathan nor Buhari can end Nigeria’s woes--Odeyemi
The Chairman, South-West, Nigeria Advance Party, Mr. Tosin
Odeyemi, said that neither President Goodluck Jonathan nor the Presidential
flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari
(retd.) can end the challenges faced by the country if any of them wins the
forthcoming presidential election.
Mr. Odeyemi said that the insurgency in the North would likely
continue if Jonathan wins while the Niger Delta militants might resume economic
sabotage if Buhari, who is from the North defeat Jonathan.
According to Odeyemi, “If Jonathan wins, then Boko Haram will
not stop and if Buhari should win, the Niger Delta militants will likely resume
to trouble the nation.
“Then
if care is not taken, Nigerians may unconsciously work towards fulfilling the
prediction of the break-up in 2015. But we don’t want that to happen because we
need one another.”
He also suggested the
general election should be postponed until a time when security would improve
in the country because millions might not be able to participate if the poll
should be conducted next month.
The NAP chieftain already said the general election would not
hold in some places, especially in the north-eastern part of the country due to
the activities of the terrorists.
