9 Killed In Plateau Village
Suspected Fulani gunmen were alleged to have killed nine persons in a reprisal attack against Berom tribe of Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State.
Leadership News correspondent gathered that two Fulani travellers were allegedly killed by a Berom mob on Sunday while the mob was protesting the release of armed youths arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) deployed to restore law and order in the state.
The attack our reporter further gathered had led to a suspected reprisal attack which led to the killing of a family of seven, at the early hours of yesterday .
Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) said a Fulani woman and her travelling companion were attacked and killed by a Berom mob on Sunday.
State chairman of MACBAN, Alh. Haruna Boro Hussaini also alleged that some soldiers had attacked and burnt down seven Fulani settlements in Luggere Shaw of Barkin Ladi LGA.
“We heard that the STF arrested two Berom youths who were planning to attack a community with arms, then Berom women demonstrated for the release of the youths and then we later heard that some soldiers were burning our settlements.
“We have reported to the STF Commander, Major-General David Enetie and he has assured us that the matter will be investigated,” he said.
Langun Jacobs, who lost seven members of his family told our correspondent that he lost his parents in the early hours of yesterday through attack which he blamed on the Fulani.
Jacobs said armed gunmen had attacked Sabon Layi community in Barkin Ladi around 12:45 and also killed his brother and his wife as well as their two children.
