Sultan: God has already Destined Who will Win 2015 Presidential Elections

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, Friday said God had already destined who will become the president of Nigeria ahead of the March 28 presidential elections.

He also called on security agents in the country to do whatever it takes to secure the lives of corps members during the elections.

The monarch made the remark yesterday, while receiving the Director General of the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC), Mr. Johnson Olawumi, in his palace in Sokoto.

The monarch maintained that God had already destined who would emerge the winner of the March 28 presidential polls, despite the desperation  by politicians to win at all cost.

"God gives power to whoever He wishes and had already ordained who will become president of Nigeria but as mortals we don't know.

"So, we don't want to see our corps members fall victims of electoral violence because of desperation by politicians to win at all cost", he said.

He emphasised the need for security agents to do whatever it takes to protect corps members in the country.

The Sultan pledged the support of the Sultanate Council to security agents and expressed optimism that the election would be peaceful devoid of violence.

"We are ready to support any move taken by security agents to ensure a violence-free election", the monarch said.

The monarch disclosed that District Heads in the state had been warned to protect any  corps member serving in their domain, saying such initiative should be replicated all over the country.

He therefore, advised the corps members serving in the state to be neutral and non partisan during the election.

The Sultan  assured the NYSC DG that corps members serving in the state would be adequately protected.

Earlier, the NYSC DG told the monarch that he was in Sokoto on an advocacy visit to sensitise corps members on the need to maintain neutrality and avoid any form of financial inducement from politicians ahead of the general elections.
